AI Engineer (Consumer Travel AI)

A consumer AI startup built around an assistant that arranges and reserves hotels, restaurants and other experiences within a single chat is hiring a full-stack AI engineer. Nobody owns one narrow domain: engineers shape the agent, the recommendation engine, partner integrations, the website and the underlying infrastructure, converting model capabilities into something that handles actual reservations correctly.

Areas of work

• Personalization: infer individual preferences, drawing on a user’s inbox when they allow it, to sharpen hotel and restaurant suggestions
• Ranking and retrieval: build an in-house system that surfaces options already suited to each user, rather than depending on large foundation models alone
• The agent itself: a conversational assistant that plans and reserves across many turns, calling tools, streaming responses and handling real payments
• Coverage: help people reserve places the company cannot book directly
• Close collaboration with partner business teams, marketing, finance and the CEO, plus daily shipping to production

Traits we look for

• A bachelor’s in engineering, computer science or a related discipline, plus at least one year working full time as an engineer
• Hands-on experience building with LLMs over time, and an approach that has evolved as models improved
• Full-stack range across frontend, backend, data, infrastructure and integrations
• Taste and judgment on products where quality is subjective, such as search, recommendations or conversation
• Clear written and spoken communication and willingness to push back with reasons
• Daily use of AI coding tools and genuine opinions about travel, food or hotels
• Experience with TypeScript, Go and Postgres is useful; ML research and model training backgrounds are not the focus
