JOB-1579
A company that owns and operates precision machine shops, and is layering AI onto its manufacturing operation, is building a commercial team and wants its first hire. The ideal person is a technical, outgoing hunter who can bring machining work from space and defense companies into the shops, from young startups to long-established primes.
Your focus
- Hunt for new OEM accounts on your own, mostly starting cold, and build a healthy flow of quote requests and invoiced work, which takes roughly half your time
- Expand current accounts by winning more programs, parts and dollars
- Contribute to the design of a new purchasing portal and customer workflow, offering input as it takes form
- Pick jobs by weighing revenue against the shop-floor data they feed to the company’s AI
- Visit customers and company plants, mostly in the western US, supporting drone, missile, satellite and rocket programs
About you
- Two to five years in business development, technical sales or procurement within aerospace, defense or hardware manufacturing, or in sales at a precision machine shop
- Enough machining knowledge to read a part drawing and discuss tolerances and materials with an engineer
- Hunter instincts with a record of sourcing and closing sizable accounts
- A plus: startup experience and an engineering or similarly technical degree
- Software-only sales backgrounds are not a fit
- US citizenship is needed because of export-control rules
On-site in Los Angeles or New York, NY. Visa sponsorship and transfers are not available.
