JOB-1968
A rapidly growing edtech company that helps schools create timetables for both educators and learners is hiring a director to run its product engineering organization. Reporting to the co-founder who serves as CTO, the director will lead several product squads as the company enters its next growth phase.
What you’ll own
- Lead multiple product squads covering the scheduling experience, visibility and reporting, and the elementary-school offering, managing engineers and steering delivery in each
- Stay hands-on early by writing code and reviewing changes while working alongside engineers, with the mix moving from about half coding toward mostly leadership over time
- Make and land major architecture decisions so the platform stays robust over roughly the following 24 months
- Collaborate with product, the school-success team and cross-functional peers to set squad goals and tie engineering priorities to business results
- Deliver valuable features before the peak scheduling season, including further AI-driven capabilities
Who fits
- Two to three or more years managing several engineering teams (six or more engineers), ideally having grown teams and supervised other managers
- Comfortable reading, reviewing and authoring code, and someone who has not drifted into purely managing people
- Solid backend architecture background and a knack for picking up unfamiliar stacks (current stack: React, TypeScript, Python, AWS, MongoDB)
- Startup or high-growth experience, at ease with ambiguity and independent prioritization
- Clear communicator who links engineering choices to commercial results
- Passion for education and willingness to travel for periodic company gatherings
Remote within the United States. Visa transfers considered; candidates not needing sponsorship are strongly preferred.
