A well-funded startup that supplies agentic AI products to community banks and credit unions needs a senior engineer to lead its core platform services. The position sits in the office alongside engineering leadership and colleagues from product, data and design, turning ambitious product ideas into dependable production systems.
The work
- Lead design and delivery of scalable, observable, maintainable platform services behind the company’s AI products
- Make architecture, API, data model, performance and security decisions yourself, under genuine constraints around latency, cost and reliability
- Write backend code using Python and TypeScript and help shape front-end experiences in JavaScript and React
- Move LLM and agent features from concept to deployment (applied engineering, not research)
- Set standards for peer review, testing, releases and the handling of incidents, and use AI coding tools every day to raise team quality and speed
Profile
- Three to six years building production platform systems, with a history of leading what you shipped rather than only contributing
- TypeScript/Node or Python as your main recent production language
- LLM or agentic features already live with real users
- A couple of recent years at a venture-backed startup between Series A and D, with big-tech time acceptable; zero-to-one product experience
- Useful extras: voice or conversational AI, language-processing pipelines, or fintech and regulated financial services
