Software Engineer (Investment Research Technology)

A small investment firm’s technology group is looking for a full-stack engineer who is curious about the role of code in investment work. The person hired will keep improving the existing software and databases that support quant research and risk oversight, and will also create new tools from nothing, working under the head of that group.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance existing internal applications and databases used by researchers and risk analysts
• Design and construct brand-new tools
• Ship full-stack features with TypeScript, React and Next.js, plus Python for scripting and automation
• Write production-quality SQL against relational databases
• Take on wider scope and ownership over time as your understanding of the investment side grows

Profile

• Two to seven years of full-stack development, with TypeScript, React and Next.js shipped end to end and not backend-only
• Solid Python and SQL, and ownership of the design and architecture of what you build
• A computer science degree with strong academics
• Independent, meticulous and efficient, and happy working on a small team
• Plus: LLM API experience for automations, AWS and CI/CD familiarity, or a finance or quantitative background
• A steady employment history with no stints under a year
