JOB-1704

A growth-stage finance software company has found that private-equity-owned businesses make up a large share of its customers, and sponsors keep asking to extend it across their portfolios. So far this has happened informally among senior leaders. The company now wants one person to own the channel deliberately, as its first hire in this area, reporting to the head of revenue.

What you’ll own

  • Stand up a private-equity channel from nothing: target firm list, outreach, partner pitch and handoff to sales
  • Open and manage ties with operating partners and with portfolio-operations and value-creation executives at roughly fifty to a hundred firms investing in software, consumer goods, manufacturing, distribution businesses and serial acquirers
  • Map sponsors’ portfolios, identify companies with the kind of finance complexity this product addresses and secure warm introductions to CFOs and controllers
  • Give weekly updates on your pipeline of firms and be measured on closed recurring revenue you source
  • Design bundled rollouts spanning several portfolio companies which a sponsor could adopt as a priority
  • Turn satisfied portfolio customers into sponsor-level conversations and support sellers on each deal you originate
  • Show up at gatherings across the PE world and feed market learnings back to product

Background

  • Three to ten years in private equity partnerships, with deep knowledge of the PE landscape
  • Experience on the portfolio operations or value-creation side of a PE firm, rather than the fund or LP side
  • Relationships among operating partners at mid-market and upper mid-market funds are valuable
  • Plus: building a partnership channel from scratch in B2B fintech or accounting software, or time at an advisory firm
