JOB-1766
A mission-driven career-training startup in New York is hiring a senior partnerships manager to recruit the employers who hire its graduates. The job is practical, relationship-led business development in industries such as trucking and HVAC, and it carries ownership of a growing employer network.
What you’ll do
- Prospect, pitch and close employers in high-demand skilled trades who pledge to interview and hire graduates
- Carry each employer relationship through to the first hire, beginning with initial outreach and a signed pledge, before passing it to account management
- Work with the founders and operations team to expand the employer network that the company’s public funding commitments depend on
- Build the partnerships funnel with leading and lagging metrics, report on it weekly and re-engage partners as soon as they stop responding
- Secure firm commitments, such as slots for interviews, hiring goals and onboarding help, and keep partners accountable through the pilot stage
- Keep a living playbook for partnerships, one-page briefs on each target industry and accurate CRM data
Who thrives here
- Four or more years in partnerships or business development, ideally as a first partnerships hire at a startup in its first or second funding round, in an operationally demanding space such as logistics, healthcare, education technology or marketplaces, or working with Fortune 500 partners
- Has personally sourced and closed commercial deals rather than only managing existing accounts
- Willing to do everything from phone prospecting to trade shows
- Has run a pipeline in a CRM and reported on funnel metrics
- Energized by a fast, in-office environment with long hours
- Background placing job seekers or students, founding a company, consulting or service work is a plus
On-site in New York, NY, five days a week. No visa sponsorship or transfers.
