A Series B document-AI company is hiring a founding forward deployed engineer in San Francisco. The role sits where deep engineering meets customer impact: you take charge of deploying the platform with sophisticated enterprise customers and help define how the function operates.
What you’ll do
- Support the sales team before deals close by running tough evaluations, building custom demo apps and winning head-to-head bake-offs against competitors
- Be accountable for what happens technically after the sale for a few enterprise accounts, meeting regularly to resolve blockers, deepen usage and open up additional use cases and groups
- Build whatever drives customer value, whether an evaluation app, a tailored agent or tweaks to current product surfaces
- Cultivate close relationships with customer stakeholders, especially technical ones
- Build eval harnesses, performance dashboards and diagnostic tooling that catch regressions across environments
- Feed usability gaps and unmet needs back to product and engineering, and work with the founders on direction
Profile
- Three to six years running software in production environments, ideally for enterprise or regulated customers
- Excellent Python, plus comfort with Bash and infrastructure
- A quantitative mindset: debugging, experimenting and iterating quickly across the whole development cycle
- Writes small tools when needed, for example a Streamlit app to check a hypothesis
- Demanding standards, high agency and a habit of fixing problems rather than only flagging them
- Plus: founding or early-stage experience, prior forward-deployed work and staying current on ML/AI
