JOB-1797

A well-funded defense-technology company building advanced flight vehicles needs a senior electronics engineer to own the real-time control hardware on its products. This is an individual-contributor position on a small, elite group developing flight-critical systems, and the engineer is expected to carry hardware personally from design through production rather than manage requirements from a distance. Exceptional engineers with three years at a top startup are also welcome to apply.

Day to day

  • Design control electronics boards, including motor controllers, actuator drivers and feedback and control loops, for present and future vehicles
  • Own each board from start to finish: carry it from PCB layout through first power-on, system integration, troubleshooting and manufacturing
  • Develop with embedded processors and mixed-signal circuitry, concentrating on computation and deterministic real-time control
  • Collaborate with guidance and navigation, avionics and flight software colleagues to make system integration smooth
  • Set your own requirements and make technical decisions, since there is no separate systems-engineering layer

What you bring

  • Three or more years of control or power electronics hardware design, including motor drivers or actuator controllers
  • Hands-on design, bring-up and debugging of control and power PCB assemblies
  • Analog and mixed-signal skill for motor drive, power conversion or precision control loops
  • PCB layout experience, from schematic capture through layout (Altium preferred)
  • Electrical engineering degree; embedded familiarity (ARM, MCUs, CAN) and flight or high-reliability experience are helpful
  • US citizenship, with eligibility for a security clearance

On-site in Los Angeles. Unable to offer visa sponsorship.
