JOB-1796

A document-AI company that has grown quickly with enterprise and AI-native customers is looking for a leader to run the small team that builds applications on top of its models. The company is widening from document parsing into a broader agentic document platform, and this person will set direction for that move. It is a player-coach seat on site; the leader reports into the engineering VP, with the founders as day-to-day collaborators.

Your focus

  • Begin by writing and releasing production code alongside the engineers, then assume full ownership of the group while staying hands-on
  • Decide what to build and how, alongside founders, product colleagues and enterprise customers, through an AI-first lens, on capabilities such as automated form completion, translation, document editing and classification
  • Insist on excellence in interfaces that are quick, dependable, precise and intuitive for complex document workflows
  • Own product engineering hiring, from sourcing through closing
  • Work with the platform and machine-learning groups on releasing new models and ways to deploy them, and decide how AI should be used in the team’s own build process

What you bring

  • Three or more years managing engineers, or a first-time manager with a year or two at an AI-native company
  • Hands-on record of shipping LLM-powered features to production, not only managing the people who did
  • Product thinking: you reason well about evals and know what makes business software worth paying for
  • Experience building products at a B2B or enterprise AI company; time spent on platforms for frontier AI labs is valued
  • Not a pure people manager removed from the code for years

On-site in the San Francisco Bay Area. Visa transfers considered.
