JOB-1798
An AI startup is creating a new kind of workspace in which knowledge workers use language models to carry out research at huge scale, through a simple interface. Behind it sits purpose-built infrastructure that runs very large numbers of agents in parallel, and the company needs a senior engineer to help solve the unusual problems that come with that.
What you’ll tackle
- Prevent race conditions when an enormous number of agents write to the same data model at once
- Stream agent outputs in real time from every backend service to the client
- Balance each agent’s write speed against how much memory it consumes
- Own whole projects as the primary contributor, from design through production deployment
- Design and run distributed services in production
- Explain complex ideas clearly and keep everyone aligned, even in difficult conversations
Profile
- Five to ten years as a software engineer with a consistent record as lead individual contributor on medium and large projects
- Production experience shipping and owning backend or distributed-systems code, in Go, C++ or similar; backend-leaning generalists are welcome
- Evidence of real technical depth, such as custom indexing, concurrency or low-level systems work
- Colleagues treat you as the person who helps debug problems and answers questions
- Familiarity with Go, Redis, pub/sub, RPC, Postgres, S3 or Temporal is a plus
- We value demonstrated skill over title or ladder-climbing
On-site in New York, NY. Visa transfers and new sponsorships are both considered.
