JOB-1474

A seed-era startup in Silicon Valley is building AI-driven CAD software, aiming to give mechanical engineering its own foundation model. Its founders are repeat builders from the autonomous-vehicle industry, and the team plans to grow quickly in the coming months. The company wants a senior backend engineer who can ship production code independently.

Responsibilities

  • Take charge of architecture and delivery for core systems, moving from vague problems to maintained, shipped products
  • Work with founders to convert loose goals into technical plans and get them out the door
  • Lift engineering quality via reviews, testing practices and architectural guidance
  • Lead how the machine-learning components of the CAD product are designed and put into production
  • Investigate and fix defects, ranging from everyday bugs through to systemic problems with speed, stability and scale
  • Improve CI/CD, test and observability practices as the product matures, and influence team culture

Profile

  • Seven or more years of backend software engineering, with early-stage startup experience
  • Deep Python skills and scalable backend services using Django, Flask and SQL
  • Practical experience training machine learning models and running them in production
  • Desktop or native application development on macOS or Windows
  • Proven history of building and owning a codebase from nothing with little supervision
  • Bonus: CAD, 3D or geometry background, C#/.NET, and cloud experience on AWS or GCP

On-site in the South Bay Area. Visa transfers are supported, but new sponsorship is not available.
