JOB-2019
A seed-stage AI startup focused on how models learn and judge subjective, creative quality is hiring a full-stack engineer with an AI-first mindset. Most of the work leans backend, with front-end tooling when needed, in an environment where nearly everything gets built from scratch.
What you’ll build
- Agent frameworks with memory and self-improving behavior
- Pipelines that evaluate model output and produce artificial training data, including grading in areas that lack objectively right answers
- Vector and retrieval infrastructure designed for very heavy request volumes
- Crawlers and scrapers that collect visual data from across the web
- Model-serving layers and APIs behind customer-facing products
- Internal data-operations tools and interfaces for expert annotators, plus gamified experiences such as quizzes, leaderboards and reward mechanics
Who fits
- Four or more years in full-stack or AI software engineering
- Hands-on delivery of LLM-based or agent systems, demonstrated at work, in open source or through serious side projects, with exposure to context engineering, embeddings and index building
- Experience on user-facing AI products or at an AI-native company
- Experience at young companies, from the earliest funding rounds through Series C, and comfort with ambiguity
- Strength in React, TypeScript and Python
- Real curiosity about design, creativity and subjective preference
- A plus: open source work or side projects, or time at creative-tools, crawling or data companies
On-site in the San Francisco Bay Area. Visa transfers considered.
