JOB-1992
A venture-backed startup provides a unified API layer over the fragmented, often decades-old software that construction companies depend on. It is hiring engineers who like simplifying complicated systems, harmonizing scattered data and building backend infrastructure that handles heavy traffic.
Problems you’ll tackle
- Standardize dozens of separate systems behind one consistent interface covering data objects, authentication, account linking and features like filtering and pagination, always designing in a system-agnostic way
- Connect to on-premises systems of many kinds, some built decades ago, and expose them securely and reliably as if modern, including adding real-time messaging and webhooks where the source lacks them
- Serve very large request volumes, storing and retrieving big data sets efficiently with thoughtful caching
- Keep integrations dependable under service commitments through scalable test frameworks that catch edge cases across a huge endpoint surface
- Build front-end applications that consume the company’s own APIs, mixing backend and frontend work
About you
- One to six years of post-graduation experience as a backend or full-stack engineer, able to work independently
- An undergraduate computer science degree plus a clear mark of excellence, such as a strong school, a reputable startup or another standout accomplishment
- Recent startup experience, or under three years at a large company with real interest in startups
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS
- Self-motivated, high-ownership and low-ego, excited to help shape engineering culture
On-site in San Francisco, five days a week. Visa transfers can be considered.
