A seed-to-Series-A real estate technology startup is growing its backend team. The software supports investors in property, vendors, tenants and an internal operations group, and it tackles core problems in property sales, leasing, accounting and upkeep coordination. The engineer joins a tight-knit group building services and APIs meant for heavy scale.
Your role
- Build services and APIs that are robust and scalable, in code that is minimal and easy to follow
- Work alongside frontend, design and product colleagues on problems that must scale massively
- Debug code and resolve performance bottlenecks
- Apply concurrency to take advantage of multi-core server hardware
- Weigh several possible solutions and pick the most suitable, whether specs are detailed or loose
Ideal profile
- Five to seven years in backend engineering at a fast-paced company with high ownership
- Java on AWS, with MySQL and React in the surrounding stack
- Deep command of algorithms and data structures
- Balances rigor with speed and favors simple solutions over over-engineering
- Startup mindset, strong work ethic and empathy for users
- Open to AI-powered coding tools; curiosity about real estate is a plus, and self-taught engineers are welcome
Remote within the United States, in any U.S. time zone. Visa transfers considered.
