A profitable, well-established AI company serving banks and credit unions is hiring a senior engineer who still writes code every day. The person in this seat takes ownership of an entire technical area, working shoulder to shoulder with a small pod while helping guide neighboring engineers.
What you’ll own
- The design and implementation of systems across one major domain, leading by example in the codebase
- Quality and delivery speed for the pods in that domain through reviews, shipping and hands-on standards
- Support for engineers and team leads, clearing obstacles and raising their technical ability without drifting into people management
- Results for the domain, agreed jointly with a product counterpart who is treated as an equal
- A way of building that leans on frontier language models and AI coding assistants for the whole group
Who thrives here
- Six to fourteen years as a staff or principal-level software engineer
- Time at a startup during its growth phase, ideally between Series A and C, where you built something that lasted
- Production experience with LLM-based agents, preferably conversational or voice products, going beyond a recent side project
- Proven end-to-end ownership of a critical system built from zero
- Strong fundamentals, ideally in Node.js, React and Python
- Daily, deep use of modern AI tooling and a preference for staying technical over moving into management
Full-time and on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, five days a week. Visa transfers are considered.
