A well-funded software holding company that buys profitable small and mid-sized businesses and modernizes them with AI is hiring forward deployed engineers. The role is hands-on rather than advisory: you would embed inside an owned business, deploy agent-driven software into running operations and stay accountable for the results.
Responsibilities
- Embed with acquired businesses, learn how they operate, win operator trust and pinpoint the two or three workflows where agentic software helps most
- Deliver the first working deployment: connectors to existing systems, prompt design, evaluation suites and user-facing screens, built on the company’s core platform
- Run and tune systems after launch, adjusting autonomy levels and handing over cleanly once stable
- Act as the technical point of contact for business general managers, setting expectations and earning confidence
- Capture lessons as reusable playbooks that speed up future rollouts in that industry segment
Qualifications
- Three to six years in full-stack, customer-facing or forward deployed engineering
- Full-stack range: a TypeScript or Python server side, React interfaces and SQL, able to ship alone
- Real LLM or agentic systems in production, complete with evals and measured outcomes rather than demos
- Experience working inside customer organizations as an engineer, for example in a Palantir-type FDE job or a build-and-run model
- Operator instincts, including reading a P&L and turning business challenges into technical approaches
- Willingness to travel often to business sites
