JOB-1708
A venture-backed company that supplies camera-based analytics to restaurant and retail chains is preparing for a big jump in deployed locations as large enterprise contracts come through. It needs a senior engineer who has already pushed a computer vision or machine learning system out of the lab and into messy real-world settings. The work is applied engineering rather than research.
Scope
- Deliver analytics on people (re-identification, tracking across cameras, staff tagging, detecting groups) and on vehicles in drive-thru lanes
- Build monitoring that checks model quality at every newly onboarded location, flags drops below the bar and feeds improvements back into the models
- Own the tooling and test infrastructure for vision work, and experiment with fresh model variants on edge hardware as well as cloud infrastructure
- Work across a functional-language backend, covering how video is ingested, how inference runs efficiently and how results and alerts are handled
- Define installation requirements for rollout partners so that deployments across thousands of sites go smoothly
Qualifications
- Four or more years in software engineering, including time at a startup
- Proficiency in Elixir, or a comparable functional language
- Experience taking a computer vision or machine learning system from idea through to production, covering model evaluation, retraining workflows and iterative tuning
- A habit of exploring new AI tools; contributions to open source or personal projects count in your favor
- Based in the US, with working hours that share a five-hour window with Mountain Time
Remote within the United States. Candidates must be US citizens or green card holders; visa sponsorship and transfers are not available.
