Our client is an early-stage software company modernizing the tools that local government offices depend on. It needs a hands-on engineering leader to run one of its main product teams, someone who still builds but whose biggest impact comes from raising the people around them.
Day to day
- Manage and coach a group of three to seven engineers, helping each of them progress in their careers
- Work with product and neighboring functions to turn the roadmap into technical plans, then deliver against them
- Stay close to the code, with roughly a quarter of your week going to implementation, reviews and design work
- Steer major architecture choices so systems stay scalable, fast and easy to maintain
- Raise the quality bar for code, tests and written docs across the team
What you bring
- Seven to fifteen years in full-stack engineering, including at least a year managing or leading a team
- An engineering foundation strong enough to pass a rigorous technical evaluation
- Proficiency with React, TypeScript and Python; Kotlin or Go is a plus
- Startup experience and a history of building products used directly by customers
- Comfort working AI coding assistants into everyday workflows
- Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Terraform and CI/CD is a plus
