JOB-1510
Our client builds big robotic machines and is moving from research prototypes into serial production; it is a climate-focused startup at Series A. It needs an experienced electrical engineer who is just as comfortable in front of CAD as out on the factory floor, and who can help make each new build more repeatable than the last.
Your focus
- Troubleshoot, integrate and expand the electrical architecture of machines already in service and those still in development, including actuators, drives, motors, sensors, PLC controls and cabling
- Produce and maintain schematics, harness drawings, wiring diagrams and related records so later builds follow shared standards
- Get hands-on with the robots themselves alongside technicians: running cable, installing hardware, integrating subsystems, testing, and chasing down faults
- Revisit electrical designs as needs change, using what field machines have taught the team to make the next generation sturdier and simpler to assemble
- Support the shift from one-off prototype builds to serial production in a purpose-built facility
- Coordinate with mechanical, software and manufacturing colleagues so the full platform works as a unit
Ideal background
- Three to ten years designing electrical systems for large robots, vehicles or aircraft, rather than only circuit boards
- Real wiring, harnessing and integration work on physical machines
- Experience choosing and integrating drives, motors, actuators, sensors and PLCs
- An engineering degree in electrical, mechanical or a related area
- Comfort with a startup or R&D pace
- CAD-based schematic and harness work is a plus
On-site in the San Francisco Bay Area or the South Bay (Silicon Valley). Visa transfers considered; new sponsorship is not available.
