JOB-1509

A small, tightly knit startup is using AI to make health insurance work better for small employers. It wants an early engineer who will help shape both the product and the engineering culture, on systems where an incorrect answer can seriously affect the people depending on them.

What you’ll own

  • Develop and refine autonomous AI agents that take over the analysis brokers currently do manually, plus routine back-office workflows
  • Build features from the data layer up to the interface, mostly with Python and TypeScript
  • Sit close to the brokers and service staff who use your tools, so each release helps them handle a far larger book of clients without losing quality
  • Create evaluation suites, safeguards and reliability tooling for agents whose output has real stakes
  • Help set architectural direction and engineering norms as the founding team expands

About you

  • Roughly five to twelve years building product on the backend or across the whole stack; pure frontend specialists need not apply
  • Strong command of both Python and TypeScript, with React a plus
  • A record of taking products from idea to production and owning the outcome, not only individual features
  • Practical experience, or serious curiosity, around building with LLMs: agents, evaluation, fine-tuning
  • Time at a high-growth startup, a large technology company or a trading firm, or founder experience
  • A humble, service-minded way of working with internal users
  • Healthcare or insurance technology exposure is a bonus

On-site five days a week in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York, NY. Open to visa transfers and new visa sponsorship.
