JOB-1460

An early-stage startup in New York is hiring the first person who works at the junction of design and code. The role takes an interface from rough idea to something real customers use.

The work

  • Own product interfaces across their life, from initial concept to release
  • Make design calls and then build them yourself as production code
  • Work every day with AI-powered tools for designing and for writing software
  • Define how design and engineering cooperate, as the inaugural person in this seat
  • Reach into backend work when it helps land a feature

Who thrives here

  • Genuine frontend engineering skill in a current framework, beyond prototypes or machine-produced screens
  • A portfolio of interface and product design you created yourself, including flows, interactions and visual craft
  • Designed and shipped a consumer-facing web or mobile product used by real people, at a startup or high-growth tech firm
  • At least a year of production UI delivery, with no upper limit on seniority
  • Broader backend experience, an art or visual background, and conversational or agent-style interface design are all pluses

On-site in New York, NY. No visa support is offered, so candidates must already hold US work authorization.
