JOB-1381
Our client builds uncrewed vehicles that operate in remote environments and is standing up a new fleet-focused engineering group. They want a server-side developer to look after the cloud systems connected to those vehicles. The posting says full stack, but around nine parts in ten of the job is platform services and APIs, with only light front-end involvement.
Responsibilities
- Develop and run cloud services that receive, transform, keep and publish telemetry, detections and operational readings from vehicles deployed in the field
- Own initiatives touching multiple code repositories in a mature system, fixing, restructuring and hardening it as demand rises
- Supply the APIs that mission operators and other applications consume, collaborating closely with teammates who focus on the user interface
- Write Python and TypeScript services linking vehicles that are often offline for stretches to the monitoring and control tools
- Lead the schema and database design for the data vehicles and operators generate, from first draft to live release
- Ship and monitor workloads on AWS, boosting uptime, scalability, visibility and tolerance for late or partial data
Candidate profile
- Four to eight years designing, shipping and running distributed cloud software, fluent in Python and TypeScript
- Comfortable debugging unfamiliar older code across repositories with little supervision
- Bachelor’s degree and AWS experience
- Bonus: real-time, geospatial or sensor data from robotics, aviation or IoT
- Comfortable with defense-related work
Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area, three days a week on-site. No relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.
