Principal Quality Engineer (Precision Manufacturing)

A seed-stage company that acquires and modernizes precision machine shops serving aerospace, defense and commercial customers needs a senior quality leader. This person is the technical authority for quality systems and product quality across a growing group of acquired facilities.

Scope

• Own and expand the quality management system at several shops, guiding them toward ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification
• Work physically inside newly acquired shops, with heavy travel, to find systemic gaps, close corrective actions and set up processes that scale
• Troubleshoot scrap, yield and defect problems using GD&T, root cause analysis and a firm grasp of machining processes
• Run first article inspections to AS9102, material review board dispositions and 8D investigations, and act as the escalation contact for serious issues
• Connect inspection data and automated workflows into the company’s internal software so quality is visible across sites in real time

Qualifications

• Seven to ten years leading quality in aerospace precision manufacturing
• Deep working command of AS9100 and ISO 9001 frameworks
• Proficiency in GD&T, root cause analysis and metrology
• Engineering degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace or industrial disciplines
• Credibility on the shop floor and a hands-on coaching style
• U.S. citizenship required because of export-control rules
