JOB-1770
A company that builds autonomous maritime vehicles is hiring a C++ engineer to own its simulation, replay and evaluation tooling. Colleagues depend on this infrastructure every day, so it has to be production quality.
Key duties
- Build and run the tooling that lets teams re-run recorded missions and simulate new ones, from scenario creation to scoring
- Tie logged vehicle telemetry, virtual environments and the real autonomy stack together in automated, repeatable tests
- Create both open-loop and closed-loop test harnesses that check autonomous behavior across large numbers of runs
- Define numeric scoring, automated evaluations and regression suites that surface problems before deployment
- Convert field failures and rare edge cases into replayable scenarios and permanent automated checks, linking operations with development
- Dig through logs, telemetry and failed runs to pinpoint root causes and push fixes
- Talk with people who use the simulator across teams about scenario authoring pain points, and wire the tooling into CI/CD
Experience we want
- Five or more years as an infrastructure or backend engineer in robotics
- Strong C++ and a history of production systems that colleagues rely on
- Hands-on work building test infrastructure for simulation, log replay or robots, plus quantitative evaluation or validation systems
- Solid systems fundamentals: concurrency, performance, reliability and Linux, and an understanding of how far simulated behavior can be trusted
- Bachelor’s degree
- Python for analysis or test tooling, and exposure to self-driving, robotics or aerospace systems, are pluses
Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area. No visa sponsorship or transfers.
