An AI startup that turns documents into structured data for customers wants a seasoned platform engineer to take ownership of the core system that runs those workloads. The role centers on making the plumbing excellent: jobs that finish quickly and dependably, efficient model serving and controlled costs across distributed infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Own and improve the platform that executes customer document jobs, with attention to speed, dependability and cost at scale
- Work with ML engineers on efficient serving of proprietary models and getting them running inside production pipelines
- Build and maintain supporting infrastructure: databases, task orchestration, job scheduling and cloud rollouts
- Tackle scaling, latency and reliability problems in distributed systems as demand increases
- Share the on-call rotation and take responsibility for platform health from end to end
Profile
- Five or more years in platform or backend engineering on distributed systems
- Experience owning and scaling core infrastructure, with recent time at a fast-growing, high-bar startup, or Staff-level scope at a larger company
- Comfort across the full stack, not purely infrastructure
- Python proficiency, or deep Go or Rust expertise with willingness to switch
- Exposure to mature systems at scale, such as at a leading fintech or developer-platform company
- Cloud infrastructure and model-serving optimization experience is a plus
