Our client is a fast-growing life-sciences company running a high-throughput laboratory operation. It needs a hands-on engineering lead for the software stack beneath that operation, covering the company’s computing, data, machine learning and security needs, with a team that is actively expanding.
What you’ll own
- The central services that coordinate lab hardware (robots, instruments, on-premises Linux machines) and feed their output into the data pipeline
- Cloud systems and pipelines that store, process and deliver very large scientific datasets
- Scheduling and orchestration for enormous numbers of analysis jobs, using queues and workflow engines
- Tooling and platforms for autonomous agents that watch quality, handle shipment logistics and run extended analysis tasks
Who thrives here
- Five or more years in platform, backend or infrastructure engineering, including leading projects and mentoring teammates
- Startup experience through a scaling phase, ideally Seed through Series C
- Strong AWS orchestration skills and Python backend work with FastAPI or Django
- Practical Linux administration and distributed task queues such as Celery or SQS
- Enough hunger for hands-on coding that most of your week remains individual-contributor work
- Curiosity about biology and comfort steering unclear efforts across teams
