A Seed-stage startup that is bringing AI agents into accounting and bookkeeping work wants an early engineer to join the founders in person. The person in this seat would design agent systems that take over real accounting routines and refine them alongside practicing accountants.
Scope
- Design and build production-grade AI agents for processes such as audit, tax, bookkeeping and the monthly close
- Own each system from prototype and evaluation through deployment, monitoring and iteration with working accountants
- Decide where ordinary rule-based code, AI-assisted steps or fully autonomous agents fit best, based on what truly helps the user
- Watch live workflows with founders and operators from accounting firms, spot weaknesses in what agents know or how they are structured, and ship fixes
- Build agent behavior into how the product feels so people enjoy using it, beyond headless performance numbers
- Influence product direction as the platform evolves around an agent-first model
Who thrives here
- Roughly a year and a half to four years as a software engineer
- Shipped agents built on language models, retrieval systems or document-handling workflows into production
- Early-stage or founder background, having built new systems from scratch
- At least a year and a half of production work at a high-growth venture-backed startup or a leading tech company
- Ease working side by side with domain experts
- A plus: an accounting or financial background, or other similar paperwork-intensive fields
