JOB-1526
A growth-stage analytics software company wants a player-coach engineering manager to guide a team building an AI context platform. The idea behind it is that the product should improve each time people use it, by learning from how customers work with AI agents and their data and by giving them tools to raise the quality of the context those agents rely on.
Responsibilities
- Lead the team responsible for the context platform
- Set technical direction, review designs and still contribute code directly
- Manage the engineers reporting to you, holding a high standard and helping each one do excellent work
- Recruit outstanding engineering talent
- Tackle open questions in the field, such as spotting and debugging faults in agent reasoning, organizing business context, balancing human oversight with self-directed improvement, and connecting to the wider ecosystem of AI tools
Qualifications
- Six or more years as a full-stack engineer, including at least two as an engineering manager
- Has led teams of roughly three to fifteen engineers
- Has built or worked hands-on with an agentic or AI-native product in the past two to three years, specifically customer-facing product work rather than internal tooling
- Proficient in TypeScript, ideally with React and Postgres; Python is useful
- Experience in a high-growth startup, ideally from Series B onward
- A product engineering orientation rather than a heavy infrastructure, analytics or mobile lean
Hybrid, based in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York, NY, in the office two days a week. Visa transfers considered case by case.
