JOB-1536
A seed-stage startup is building a live AI assistant worn by field technicians, using camera-equipped wearables to walk them through repair and maintenance tasks in demanding industrial sites. It is hiring its first engineer focused on the hardware side, someone responsible for how sensor data gets off the device and answers get back quickly enough to feel instantaneous.
Your focus
- Get cameras working on glasses-style and other worn hardware
- Write embedded and edge software, plus a low-delay path that carries camera feeds, sound and sensor streams to the cloud
- Make the pipeline hold up over poor industrial-site connectivity
- Run models locally on the device whenever connectivity falls short
- Draft device specifications for the manufacturers that will build the hardware
- Work as the closest engineer to the physical product on a very small founding team
What you bring
- Between one and six years of professional engineering centered on physical devices; current and former founders are welcome
- Shipped real-time systems that move sensor data off physical hardware, such as robot or drone perception, teleoperation video links, edge inference, or wearable and AR streaming
- Device-side code in Rust, C or C++, on an RTOS and embedded Linux, tuned to tight budgets for latency, power and memory
- Full ownership of a system as a founder, early engineer or lead on a shipped subsystem
- Nice to have: Python and AWS or GCP skills to build an ingest service
On-site in the San Francisco Bay Area. Visa transfers are considered.
