JOB-1434
A recently founded, seed-stage defense technology company is hiring an electrical engineer to take charge of power and drive electronics for its air-defense interceptor hardware. The seat suits someone who likes going from a blank schematic to a working board on the bench, inside a small team where hardware changes quickly.
The work
- Architect power conversion, distribution, battery management and protection for a guided flight vehicle
- Own the electronics behind control-surface actuators, from the power stage and current sensing to motor commutation and position-feedback inputs
- Draw schematics, lay out boards and write bring-up checklists for mixed analog and digital avionics
- Lead electromagnetic compatibility and power-integrity efforts, including grounding and noise mitigation
- Build test rigs and validation plans, then debug and verify the hardware, including bench integration and environmental screening
- Tune the assembled system together with the firmware, systems and controls teams
- Help define the electrical design conventions the team will rely on as production volume grows
About you
- Five or more years designing power electronics and circuits for robotics, automotive, defense or aerospace products
- A record of carrying a board design all the way from concept to validated hardware
- Hands-on motor drive experience with BLDC and PMSM power stages, gate drivers and current-sense topologies
- Strong PCB layout skills with a system-level view of EMC, shielding and filtering
- Comfortable in rapid 0-to-1 development cycles and in debugging hardware in a lab
- BS in Electrical Engineering or a related field; daily use of AI tools in your workflow
- A plus: FPGA interfacing, or having qualified hardware against DO-160-style environmental requirements
Fully on-site in Los Angeles. Work visa sponsorship and transfers are not available for this position.
