JOB-1383

  • Permanent
  • Remote

Our client, a data-infrastructure software company, is hiring the first engineer dedicated to security. You would define how the function works as the engineering team roughly doubles. The bulk of your day is spent in code, working on security challenges inside a distributed system that processes huge volumes of data.

Problems you would tackle

  • Separating each customer’s workloads and data on a shared platform handling vast daily throughput
  • Permission models that give different teams and brands inside one customer different levels of access
  • Isolation of compute, plus threat assessment and hardening of products before launch
  • Defending public, high-volume APIs with throttling, misuse detection and finer-grained authorization
  • Securing deployments across several regions and clouds, including new regions that satisfy data-residency requirements

The roadmap is yours: spot the architectural weaknesses with the greatest payoff and fix them.

Your background

  • Six or more years in security, with solid distributed-systems knowledge and genuine backend engineering experience
  • Among the first handful of security hires within a SaaS or data business that scaled
  • Experience with customer separation, permission design, multi-cloud security and privacy controls (personal-data handling, residency)
  • Degree in computer science, math, physics or a related field
  • Judged on what you have built, not on certifications

Remote in Canadian or similar time zones. Visa transfers considered.
