On the job
- Take full ownership of customer deliverables, scoping, building and refining features with little supervision
- Talk directly with public-sector customers to grasp their needs and turn what you learn into product solutions, rather than simply building what is requested
- Ship full-stack features covering the frontend, backend and AI-driven tooling
- Go on location with customers to refine quickly and confirm the product fits real needs
- Work in a forward-deployed style, dropping into unfamiliar environments and figuring them out independently
What helps
- Three or more years building across the stack with a product-first mindset (TypeScript, React, Node, Python and PostgreSQL)
- Meaningful time at smaller, quickly growing companies rather than only big tech
- Comfortable working with customers directly and converting their needs into decisions
- Self-starter who needs neither formal onboarding nor detailed specifications
- Concise, articulate communicator at ease with ambiguity
