JOB-1969

A deep-tech startup is creating a new kind of computing hardware that exploits thermal noise in standard CMOS to do probabilistic sampling, aimed at much lower energy use in AI acceleration and at the network edge. After several chip tape-outs, the small team is defining architecture for the next generation, and it needs a principal analog and mixed-signal engineer to own major parts of that work.

What you’ll own

  • Take the lead on analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks, including PLLs, ADCs, oscillators, dividers, regulators, bandgaps and high-speed SerDes, for upcoming tape-outs
  • Take charge of large portions of chip architecture, possibly acting as lead designer on one of the planned chips
  • Do hands-on layout and verification (DRC, ERC, LVS), since everyone at a startup pitches in
  • Work with colleagues in IC design, systems, physics and algorithms to turn probabilistic-computing ideas into silicon
  • Help bring up and characterize fabricated silicon in the lab with bench instruments such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers

Qualifications

  • Six to twenty years in analog and mixed-signal IC design, including PLLs, ADCs or SerDes, with several completed tape-outs
  • Deep CMOS circuit design expertise; mixed-signal work, not purely analog
  • MS or PhD in electrical engineering focused on circuits
  • Proficiency with Cadence simulation, including parasitic extraction, Monte Carlo and corners
  • Hands-on layout experience, plus willingness to do tasks outside your specialty
