Senior Backend Engineer (AI Sales Software)

A profitable, fast-growing software company in the sales and go-to-market space is reshaping its whole product with AI and agents at the center and needs a senior backend engineer. The engineering group holds a high bar and treats development with AI assistance as routine, and the systems it runs serve a very large customer base.

Responsibilities

• Carry major platforms and capabilities from design all the way through running them in production
• Build and run large distributed systems, picking and combining technologies such as Kafka and various databases to solve hard problems
• Decompose ambiguous, difficult problems and push them to shipped results while being accountable for cost, speed and dependability
• Develop AI-native agent systems used by a global audience

Qualifications

• Five to eight years in backend or full-stack engineering, building distributed systems that run at scale
• Experience operating systems that serve more than 100K users
• Judgment about which tools fit a problem rather than tool familiarity alone
• Strength in system design for large-scale data, with a database background or experience building LLM-based systems
• Practical exposure to Ruby on Rails, Python, MongoDB or Elasticsearch
• Startup, AI-native or early-engineer background, with a clear record of expanding scope over time

Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area, three days a week in the office. Visa transfers considered.
