Senior Backend Engineer (Consumer Startup)

A fast-growing consumer technology startup is looking for a senior backend engineer who wants to own a big share of its engineering platform. The environment is intense and the pace matches the company’s growth, in return for wide scope and real responsibility.

Scope

• Ship customer-facing features that move the company’s central business metrics
• Tackle data-heavy problems such as pairing users well and detecting fraud
• Improve how the team builds and releases software, including experimentation tooling and CI/CD
• Take on additional ownership as the engineering organization expands

About you

• Five to eight years of backend engineering, ideally in Go, or the ability to ramp up fast in it
• Time at a fast-growing startup or an engineering-heavy company with a high hiring bar
• A history of owning consumer-facing backend features from design to launch with measurable results
• Self-directed drive: you finish projects without close supervision and keep seeking more to own
• Motivated by impact and growth trajectory rather than title or pay
• Bonus: work on matchmaking, fraud prevention or recommendation systems, or on pipelines and experimentation platforms
