JOB-1888

A well-funded aerospace and defense company is expanding a compact avionics group where engineers get their hands on the hardware themselves. The opening is for a power electronics specialist who will be responsible for significant vehicle subsystems, carrying designs from first concept to production integration. A defense résumé is not a prerequisite; strong circuit designers from automotive, robotics, aerospace or other hardware-heavy fields are welcome.

Your focus

  • Design power electronics boards such as inverters, DC-DC converters, motor controllers, load switches and distribution systems
  • Own each design through schematic capture, bring-up, debugging, validation and production rollout
  • Write the requirements yourself and shape the overall power architecture, since there is no separate systems group
  • Work on high-voltage, high-current power for actuators, filtering and bus sizing in mission-critical avionics
  • Possibly support ground-system power electronics next to flight hardware

What you bring

  • Three or more years of hands-on power electronics PCBA design, taken through bring-up and validation
  • PCB layout in Altium or a comparable tool, and a degree in electrical engineering or related
  • High ownership: you personally design and debug rather than oversee
  • Nice to have: circuit simulation (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) and high-reliability or flight hardware background
  • US citizenship, with eligibility for a security clearance
