A growth-stage company running a B2B transaction and data-exchange platform is hiring a senior backend engineer to take ownership of complicated, high-volume parts of its system. The engineer will also guide AI coding assistants and scrutinize what they generate as carefully as a teammate’s code, which makes solid fundamentals more important, not less.
Core duties
- Direct architecture and delivery for large initiatives and features that serve essential business goals
- Author design documents for sizable projects and argue the business rationale for technical shifts
- Run intricate systems, planning for speed, growth and dependability from day one
- Assess what a technical change means for the business and help colleagues elsewhere in the company absorb it
- Coach fellow engineers, influence technical strategy and collaborate with product and neighboring teams
- Raise engineering standards, including by steering AI coding assistants and auditing their output
Experience we value
- Five to fifteen years of backend-heavy, product-minded software engineering
- Designed and built high-scale transactional systems on data-heavy platforms, ideally in EDI or a similar domain
- Distributed systems and messaging experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ or comparable tools
- Expert knowledge of Node.js and TypeScript
- End-to-end ownership of the technical design for a major system or product area
- Background at a growth-stage company, ideally Series C or later, or an earlier stage with strong enterprise traction
- Production work shipped with AI coding tools; experience with authentication and authorization (SSO, OAuth, RBAC) is a plus
