JOB-1779
An early-stage chip company building a new class of energy-efficient computing hardware for AI is adding a senior circuit designer. The person joining will help create the core analog and mixed-signal blocks for a series of processors, and the team is currently shaping the architecture of its next several devices. It is a small, fast-moving group where engineers cover a lot of ground.
What you’ll own
- Design analog and mixed-signal blocks such as data converters, phase-locked loops, bandgap references, regulators, oscillators, fast frequency dividers and serial links
- Take each block through its whole life on more than one chip: initial architecture, schematics, layout and final sign-off checks (DRC, ERC, LVS)
- Do hands-on layout and run thorough Cadence simulation, including parasitic extraction, Monte Carlo and corner sweeps
- Help bring up and characterize circuits in the lab with signal generators, spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes
- Work alongside IC, systems, physics and algorithms colleagues to turn novel sampling concepts into working silicon
Who thrives here
- Three to six years of CMOS analog and mixed-signal design, with real mixed-signal exposure rather than a purely analog career
- Multiple tape-outs, ideally on FinFET or 28nm/65nm processes
- Prior design of converters, PLLs, oscillators, regulators or high-speed SerDes
- Solid command of small-signal and feedback analysis, including closed-loop gain, loading and the Miller effect
- Master’s or PhD in electrical engineering with an analog/mixed-signal focus
- Willingness to take on less glamorous tasks beyond your specialty
Hybrid in Boston, three days a week on-site. Both visa transfers and new sponsorships are considered.
