JOB-1777
A company that acquires and modernizes machine shops for aerospace and defense customers is hiring a software engineer who cares more about physical production than pure software. The job spans one large system that reaches from factory hardware and edge software through backend services, models and user interfaces.
What the job involves
- Build and own pieces of a platform that links factory-floor equipment (CNC machines, inspection devices, cameras and sensors) through edge hardware
- Develop the shop-floor manufacturing execution system and the physical interfaces used by operators, inspectors, inventory staff and logistics teams
- Create back-office software that handles invoicing, monitoring, quotes, routing and job scheduling, plus a customer web app for parts ordering and tracking
- Deliver AI features for operator training, predictive maintenance, manufacturability analysis, instant quotes, process planning and toolpath generation
- Work with manufacturing engineers and shop staff, taking features from requirements through testing and deployment
Candidate profile
- Three to five years as a full-stack, backend or ML engineer, with solid fundamentals in Python, TypeScript/React, Postgres and AWS
- Background at an organization with a rigorous engineering bar, such as big tech or a well-known venture-backed startup
- Computer science degree from a school known for strong engineers
- Manufacturing, robotics or other physical-domain exposure is a plus, as is hardware-adjacent backend work (not pure firmware)
- Willing to be on-site in New York, NY five days a week and to travel to shops
- Must be a US citizen or green card holder for export-control reasons
On-site in New York, NY. No visa sponsorship or transfers.
