JOB-1700
A well-funded, late-stage company building autonomous vessels for maritime and defense missions is hiring a C++ engineer for its onboard software. The job sits where code meets hardware, supporting a global fleet of working vehicles and expanding what they can do.
Scope
- Develop and support production-grade C++ that runs on board autonomous ships
- Connect sensors and vessel subsystems, such as battery management, power, propulsion and control, to the onboard software
- Investigate hard vehicle and software problems with telemetry, logs, test rigs and direct inspection, then build and roll out fixes to vessels already at sea
- Support new sensor integrations and added mission capabilities as customer needs change
- Build tooling for vehicle configuration, rollout, upgrades and migrations for a large international fleet
- Validate hardware and software integrations on actual vessels, improving dependability during field operations
- Work with the infrastructure software group and hardware engineers on how the whole system behaves
Profile
- Three to five years of professional software engineering, ideally four or more in C++ on systems that run on physical hardware
- Background in robotics, self-driving, aerospace or defense, with sensor and subsystem integration experience
- Skilled at debugging from log data and by reproducing issues on test rigs
- Plus: embedded Linux, an RTOS or fleet support experience
- U.S. person status is required
Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area, about three days a week on-site. Unable to consider candidates who need visa sponsorship or transfer.
