JOB-1605

A small, high-caliber startup building a contemporary data platform serving the alternative investments sector is hiring a backend-minded engineer. The work is greenfield and autonomous, with long stretches of independence and very little process.

The work

  • Architect and release production systems covering data intake, structured context and the governed base layer applications depend on
  • Create infrastructure that stands up and operates complete AWS environments on customers’ behalf, turning assorted data formats into strongly typed, linked records that carry lineage and access rules
  • Own each problem from a fuzzy brief to a product the business leans on daily
  • Lean on LLMs throughout the day, using in-house AI tooling such as parallel agents plus containerized development setups to speed delivery
  • Work with a small engineering group via brief standups and planning, and help steer technical direction

About you

  • One to six years of software engineering centered on data infrastructure and Python
  • Designed and shipped production backend or platform systems such as ingestion or orchestration, rather than analytics, BI or ML-only work
  • Strong data modeling fundamentals, including schema design, lineage and permissions
  • Time at an early-stage, venture-backed startup, with growing scope across roles
  • Comfort working independently for weeks; Terraform and AWS experience is a plus

On-site in New York, NY, five days a week. Visa sponsorship is not available; a transfer may be considered for the right person.
