JOB-1395

A venture-backed startup building personalized AI products is preparing for government use. It needs a senior ML engineer to get its core models running inside a high-security government cloud boundary (IL5) and to show that quality holds up in that setting just as it does in commercial deployments.

Your focus

  • Deploy hosted language and speech models in a government cloud region, optimizing for output quality, response time and spend
  • Migrate retrieval-augmented and core model pipelines onto government cloud services so no data crosses the boundary
  • Build evaluation suites for correctness, grounding in sources and appropriate refusals, then share findings with the client
  • Keep records of model builds, prompt versions, vetted container images and data origins to support the authorization process
  • Run the voice capture feature on a cloud speech service inside the secure boundary
  • Pair with a full-stack colleague on secure retrieval, with permissions and audit trails

Background

  • Hands-on record of putting machine learning or large-language-model systems into production in an IL5 setting, preferably Azure Government
  • Extensive background in machine learning or applied AI (seven-plus years preferred), responsible for models handling live production load
  • Strong grounding in Azure OpenAI and comparable hosted models, retrieval-augmented generation, vector search (for example Azure’s search service) and evaluation
  • Python, and a taste for hands-on individual-contributor work rather than management
  • Has built and shipped a product or model from zero to one

In person five days a week in the San Francisco Bay Area or the South Bay (Silicon Valley). Work eligibility is limited to U.S. citizens and green card holders; no visa sponsorship or transfers.
