JOB-1388

A very small space-technology startup that plans to run AI inference on satellites is hiring its first dedicated electrical engineer. Candidates from fresh graduates to engineers with a decade or more of experience are welcome, and the position includes ownership of the computer that will fly on the company’s first demonstration spacecraft.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the onboard flight computer destined for the first demonstration satellite, which is the top priority for your first three months
  • Breadboard, power up and troubleshoot hardware at the Los Angeles lab, working side by side with the engineering lead
  • Work with contract server manufacturers on the electronics and computing hardware of the larger production satellite
  • Influence high-speed interconnect decisions, with NVLink and SerDes among the options, and assess photonic and optical links
  • Write firmware and payload platform software as the need arises

What you bring

  • Hands-on electrical engineering across custom board design: schematics, high-speed PCB layout, bring-up and fault isolation
  • Grounding in high-speed digital design plus signal and power integrity
  • At least a year in a venture-backed, high-growth startup where you built things from zero
  • A degree in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Bonus points for space or radiation-tolerant hardware, chip-level work on GPUs or SoCs, optical networking, or time spent working with contract manufacturers
  • C/C++ and Python for firmware and tooling

On-site in Los Angeles, five days a week. Unable to sponsor or transfer visas.
