Cloud Platform and Security Engineer (Insurtech Startup)

A fast-growing fintech startup in the insurance technology space is hiring the first person ever dedicated to infrastructure and security. You will report to the CTO, run DevOps, cloud infrastructure and security as one small platform group, and grow into leading a team as engineering expands.

Responsibilities

• Stand up the processes, policies and tooling for the platform function from nothing
• Move older systems onto modern AWS foundations and tighten the cloud setup during your first months
• Keep the security program running through automation, including SOC 2 upkeep, AI usage policy and incident response
• Improve build and deployment pipelines and developer tooling so engineers release faster
• Advise leadership on security practice and spread a security-first habit across the team

Requirements

• Five to twelve years running cloud infrastructure and security, with deep hands-on AWS experience
• Owned a production platform (infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, Kubernetes, monitoring) at a venture-backed B2B software company; regulated sectors are a plus
• Strong with IAM, secrets and data protection as part of everyday platform work
• Building platform foundations from zero and running SOC 2 in practice are both pluses
• Comfortable with ambiguity, with a steady work history

In the New York office four days a week. Visa transfers considered.
