JOB SUMMARY
Our client is hiring backend and infrastructure engineers (Python, Go, TypeScript, etc.) who thrive on ownership, impact, and building frontier technology. As one of the first engineers on the team, you’ll shape both the technical roadmap and culture while collaborating directly with leading AI researchers.
This role is ideal for founder-type engineers who’ve built and shipped significant systems, treat engineering as a craft, and enjoy high-ambiguity, high-impact environments. Your work will directly power the training of agentic AI models.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Backend & Infrastructure: Build and scale systems in Python, Go, and TypeScript for simulation-heavy workloads.
- AI Training Environments: Develop gyms where AI agents learn coding, browser use, and complex workflows.
- Customer Collaboration: Partner with AI lab researchers to co-develop cutting-edge solutions.
- Technical Leadership: Drive architecture, design decisions, and engineering culture as an early team member.
- Startup Execution: Move fast in a lean environment (currently 3 engineers in NYC), iterating quickly and adapting to change.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong backend/infrastructure expertise (Python, Go, TypeScript).
- Proven impact as a founder, founding engineer, or key contributor at a top-tier company.
- Excited to work in-person in NYC (5 days/week, ~50–60 hrs/week).
- Comfortable with ambiguity and ownership-heavy work.
- Deep interest in AI, agentic systems, and frontier tech.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in early-stage startups (less than 30 employees).
- Customer-facing engineering background.
- History of shaping technical culture.
- Strong academic foundation.
