Job Description

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Manager, Legal Billing Operations to lead and optimize the performance of multiple Client Accounts teams. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring consistent execution of billing operations, coaching managerial staff, driving workflow improvements, and aligning departmental goals with firm-wide business objectives. The position plays a central role in scaling efficient processes and maintaining strong attorney and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day billing operations across multiple teams; ensure workload balance and timely completion of billing assignments.
  • Monitor performance metrics, implement process improvements, and optimize billing workflows.
  • Coach, mentor, and train managerial and billing staff; conduct performance reviews and guide professional development.
  • Provide escalation support for billing inquiries; liaise directly with attorneys and clients to resolve issues and ensure billing accuracy.
  • Develop and deliver training programs and standardize billing policies across teams.
  • Lead or support firmwide billing-related projects and initiatives; contribute to cross-functional planning and execution.
  • Organize and facilitate team meetings; document action items and track outcomes.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert on billing operations, systems, and process escalations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and implement operational best practices.
  • Serve as a leadership point of contact, fostering team cohesion, accountability, and high performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing legal billing teams, preferably within a large law firm or professional services environment.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills with a process-driven mindset.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication abilities. Comfort with billing systems and workflow optimization; familiarity with financial tools and reporting.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
