Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Billing Specialist to join its Financial Operations team. This hybrid role is responsible for managing the end-to-end billing process for a portfolio of attorneys and clients, ensuring that all invoices meet compliance requirements, client guidelines, and attorney specifications. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, responsive, and confident in managing complex billing cycles with professionalism and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor unbilled time and disbursements; ensure timely preparation and finalization of invoices.
  • Review and interpret client billing guidelines and rate arrangements to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare monthly and transactional bills, revise based on attorney feedback, and finalize for submission.
  • Process transfers, write-offs, adjustments, and maintain accurate billing records.
  • Collaborate with partners, legal staff, and clients to resolve billing discrepancies promptly.
  • Coordinate with E-Billing Specialists to ensure accurate electronic submissions.
  • Generate billing reports and analytics to support attorney and management needs.
  • Communicate billing progress and updates to management; support ad hoc reporting.
  • Participate in special projects and continuous process improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years of relevant billing experience in a large law firm setting.
  • Minimum 5 years of legal billing experience; Aderant expertise preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication skills with attorneys, clients, and support staff.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  • Demonstrated discretion with confidential client and billing data.
  • Work Schedule Hybrid work model; in-office attendance required as designated by the department.
