Job Description
Our client is currently seeking a seasoned and proactive Litigation Paralegal to join its labor and employment litigation team. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience supporting attorneys in wage and hour disputes, including both individual claims and class actions. This role requires a strong command of case management processes, discovery handling, and trial support.
Responsibilities
- Manage litigation cases from initiation through resolution, including trial preparation and post-trial activities.
- Assist with client communication, witness coordination, and document collection, including preparing for interviews and related tasks.
- Draft and respond to discovery requests, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring timely document production and adherence to procedural deadlines.
- Prepare detailed wage and hour analyses using Excel, including formulas and pivot tables.
- Support attorneys in deposition and trial preparation, including compiling exhibits and summaries.
- Collaborate with the firm’s Litigation Support team to ensure electronic file management aligns with internal protocols.
- Assist in preparing case summaries, timelines, and factual chronologies to support litigation strategy.
- Perform research and document review using litigation support software such as CaseMap, Ipro, and Relativity.
- Overtime availability as needed to meet client and case deadlines.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of substantive litigation experience, ideally with labor and employment law focus.
- Must meet California Business & Professions Code §6450; paralegal certificate required; bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court procedures, including e-filing protocols.
- Comprehensive understanding of litigation workflows including discovery, document production, and trial preparation.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word (including styles, macros, and TOAs/TOCs) and Excel (pivot tables, formulas).
- Experienced with legal technology tools including CaseMap, Ipro, and Relativity.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
- Professional demeanor with a focus on collaborative teamwork and high-quality client service.
- Physically able to manage standard office functions including prolonged computer use, lifting up to 10 pounds, and extended hours when necessary.
