Job Description
Our client, a prominent litigation firm, is seeking a Workers’ Compensation Associate Attorney to join their Providence, RI office. This is a dynamic role for attorneys with 1–5 years of experience in workers’ compensation or insurance defense, offering direct litigation exposure, autonomy in case handling, and a hybrid work environment following an introductory period. Ideal candidates are confident advocates with strong courtroom skills and a client-focused mindset.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in hearings before the Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Court, managing appearances and legal arguments independently.
- Draft and respond to motions, review medical records, and analyze employment documentation.
- Develop and execute case strategies while managing a personal caseload from inception through resolution.
- Communicate with clients to provide status updates and legal guidance, maintaining high standards of responsiveness and professionalism.
- Participate in depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
- Collaborate with colleagues on complex claims and share best practices in procedural updates.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice in Rhode Island and in good standing.
- 1–5 years of experience in workers’ compensation and/or insurance defense.
- Comfortable arguing in court and managing hearings before the RI Workers’ Compensation Court.
- Proven ability to manage multiple cases, meet deadlines, and maintain compliance with court procedures.
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Professional demeanor, ethical judgment, and excellent communication abilities.
